The protection of persons fleeing discrimination, persecution and conflicts is a legal obligation and an international commitment.

Within the framework of the EU4Migration project, a meeting was held at the Local Directorate of Border and Migration in Gjirokastra, with the participation of
the Director for Migration, Asylum and Anti-Trafficking Policies at the Ministry of Interior, Ms. Alma Bime, Representatives of the Department for Border and Migration of the State Police, the Local Directorate for Border and Migration Gjirokastra, UNHCR, the Executive President - CEO of the International Police Organization Dr. Mareglen Tomori.
The meeting focused on strengthening institutional cooperation in the field of asylum, border management and identification of cases of human trafficking.
Albania will not serve as a transit route or safe haven for human trafficking networks.
This is an example of the determination of law enforcement institutions to protect human life and dignity, as well as to crack down on any form of organized crime.
The discussions and joint engagement confirm that when we cooperate, challenges become easier and the system becomes fairer and more effective.
