WEBINAR FOR IPO MEMBERS "CYBER SECURITY & CRIME"

The IPO Education and Crime Prevention Department is developing every day more and we are glad that we can give to our members more webinars with different thematic, held by professionals from different fields.

We thank all our members who participated today June 02 in our webinar "Cyber Security and Crime" held by Mr. Stefan Epistatu, Cyber Security Expert, Section Leader of IPO Romania. A large number of members took part in this webinar, where of course the members of the IPO Section Pakistan, the police officers, who as always follow the webinar from their operational center, were not missing.

In today's webinar, Mr. Epistatu touched on some important points on the topic of Cyber Security such as:

What is cyber security?

- Cybersecurity is the protection of Internet-connected systems such as hardware, software, and data from cyber threats. Practices to be used by individuals and enterprises to protect against unauthorized access to data centers and other computerized systems.

A strong cyber security strategy can ensure a good security posture against malicious attacks designed to access, alter, delete, destroy or extort an organization's or user's sensitive data and systems. Cybersecurity is also important in preventing attacks that aim to disable or disrupt the operation of a system or device.

Why is cyber security important?

With an increasing number of users, devices, and programs in the modern enterprise, combined with the increasing deluge of data, much of which is sensitive or confidential. The importance of cyber security continues to grow. The growing volume and sophistication of cyber attackers and attack techniques further exacerbate the problem.

Cyber security is a current topic where the IPO is working with experts in this field to build programs and projects that will be implemented according to the needs to support law enforcement and state institutions.

For this reason, the IPO has created the CTAIU - Cyber Threat Analysis Intelligence Unit a Program that aims to assist the police and other law enforcement agencies in preventing cybercrime and the dangers that appear in the daily life of the citizen.

The IPO has a wide network of specialists, experts, analysts, consultants,

and advisors who share their experience to help the law enforcement structures

in community policing as efficiently and effectively possible.

The IPO Cyber Threat Analysis Intelligence Unit - CTAIU represents a force multiplier for Law Enforcement looking to update their response and detection programs to deal with increasingly sophisticated advanced persistent threats. Malware is an adversary's tool but the real threat is the human one, and cyber threat intelligence focuses on countering those flexible and persistent human threats with empowered and trained human defenders. During a targeted attack, an organization needs a top-notch and cutting-edge threat hunting or incident response team armed with the threat intelligence necessary to understand how adversaries operate and to counter the threat.

The IPO Cyber Threat Analysis Intelligence Unit will train the law enforcement agencies teams in the tactical, operational, and strategic skills of cyber threat intelligence to make the security teams better and more accurate in cyber threat hunting.
