IPO HQ AND CCIO REPRESENTATIVES AT MEETING IN EUROPE HOUSE IN ALBANIA



At the invitation of the Ministry of the Interior of Albania, on January 31 the IPO Founder Ass. Prof Ilija Zivotic and the IPO Executive President Dr. Mareglen Tomori as part of the Delegation of the International Police Organization IPO HQ together with the Representatives of the CCIO Counter Crime Intelligence Organization Ms. Dorina Bala, participated in the Discussion and Counseling Table for chapter 24 in the framework of the Partnership Platform in the premises of Europe House organized by the Ministry of Interior of Albania and the European Movement of Albania EMA.


The meeting focused on the subject of migration was opened by Mrs. Suela Jahaj, Director of Integration, Coordination, Agreement, and Assistance. Mr. Gladis Gjipali, Executive Director of EMA, expressed the importance of informing non-state actors about the essential issues of the negotiation process for chapter 24.


Ms. Silvana Banushi, General Director of Development for Migration and Asylum at the Ministry of the Interior, commented on the objectives and measures envisaged by the Draft National Strategy for Migration 2024-2030, and Mr. Saimir Boshnjaku, Director of the Border and Migration Department at the General Directorate of the State Police, commented on irregular migration and the role of the police in further cooperation with FRONTEX.


The added value of the Table was the access to the Slovak experience in this field, giving thanks to the Slovak expert, Mrs. Jana Jurickova, Deputy Director of the Border and Foreign Police Bureau of the Presidium of the State Police.


The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr. Besfort Lamallari, at the end of the meeting, reiterated the importance of further cooperation in the progress of work on chapter 24.


This activity takes place within the framework of the project “Building Partnership on Key Issues: Empowerment of CSOs for the EU membership process”, with the financial support of the European Union - IPA Civil Society Facility 2021, which was implemented by the European Movement in Albania and in cooperation with the Academy of European Integration and Negotiations (AIEN), Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) and the Center for Transparency and Free Information.
