Encrypted communication systems in organized criminal groups webinar was held in Belgrade on May 9. 2021.
The webinar was organized by International Police Organization IPO Section Serbia.
Participants were first introduced to the secure communication terminology and tehnology.
Webinar participants were introduced to the basic principles of secure and encrypted communication. Questions were asked to which the lecturer gave answers. From whom is communication protected? What are safe ways to communicate? What are the most secure communication networks? How secure can communication be?
The first part presents the history of secure communication, from burner phones twenty years ago to encrypted devices today.
The most popular platforms Signal, Viber, Whatsapp, Telegram, Sky ECC, EncroChat were presented. The lecturer looked back and made a comparison of the two most popular mobile platforms, Android and Apple's iOS. With all their advantages and disadvantages. Wher
e is the conclusion that Apple is safer than conventional solutions, as well as that Signal is currently the most secure platform. It is presented how large companies like Google monitor their users, collect data and trade them.
A special focus was on do-it-yourself solutions to protect communication.
