REPORT OF THE MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, H.E. MR. DENNIS FRANCIS


IPO HQ Representative to the United Nations Geneva and President of IPO Section Switzerland Mr. Imet Cafleshi participated in an important meeting with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis which was a great opportunity for civil society organizations to make their voices heard and discuss ways to strengthen their participation in the General processes.

Objective:

Discuss ways to strengthen the participation of civil society organizations in the

General Assembly processes.


Summary of the meeting: President Francis opened the meeting by thanking civil

society organizations for their participation. He underlined the importance of their

contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting

international peace and security.


Participants then discussed various topics, including:

• The importance of the participation of civil society organizations in decision-making

processes

• Challenges faced by civil society organizations President Francis listened

attentively to the participants' interventions and took note of their suggestions. He

reaffirmed his commitment to working with civil society organizations to build a better

future for all.

• Civil society organizations play an important role in achieving the Sustainable

Development Goals.

• It is important to strengthen the participation of civil society organizations in

decision-making processes.

• Civil society organizations face many challenges, including lack of funding and

restrictions on their freedom of association and expression.

• This meeting provided a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities

facing civil society organizations.

• It is important to continue working with civil society organizations to promote peace,

prosperity, progress, and sustainability.


President Francis will continue to engage with civil society organizations.

International Police Organization IPO together with other Civil society organizations will continue to work to make their voices heard in the General Assembly processes.
